About
Mary Stuart is an artist based in New Jersey. A lifelong fascination with glass led her to pursue an Associate of Fine Arts degree from Salem Community College, where she is exploring a range of glassmaking techniques. A former educator, Mary also holds a Master of Arts in English from Purdue University and works professionally as a genealogist. Her artistic practice is deeply rooted in family history research and explores the ways genetic inheritance, lived experience, and ancestral memory intersect to shape identity—positioning the body as a vessel for all that has come before. Mary works primarily with hot, coldworked, and kiln-formed glass to examine the fragility and resilience of identity, often layering narrative elements into her work.
